An Ode to my flights in Virginia

In the Shenandoah mountains, high above the trees  A drone soars and flies with the greatest of ease  Its propellers spin, lifting it up to the sky  As it dances and glides, so graceful and nigh The mountains stretch out below, a tapestry of green  The drone's camera captures the beauty unseen  It flies over valleys and streams, and dips and turns  The landscape below, forever it yearns As the sun sets low in the western sky  The drone returns home, no longer to fly  But the memories remain, of its journey so grand In the Shenandoah mountains, with the drone in hand The drone is a marvel, a feat of technology  A machine that defies gravity  It can go where no man can go  To the highest peak, or the deepest canyon below The Shenandoah mountains are a wonder to see  From the air, they seem to go on endlessly  The drone captures it all, the rolling hills and the rocky cliffs  A true masterpiece, a natural rift As the lig...

Poem on Mars

Happy New Year! I wanted to post a poem I composed on seeing the perseverance land on Mars along with the success of Amal and Tianwen-1 probes Ground in white and flames of gold, Once you leave earth, you will know The dream of flight, passionately bold. The dream of stars, dreams of Titan’s snow Red in blood, to red in dust, Grit in ink, standing on Newtonian shoulder Born a child's laughter, now a mother’s trust Our will - this, to fly to our next boulder Once you leave earth, you will know The cost of blue, the music in brown Green are the pastures, only the sheep to mow Empty our docks, no ships to drown Gaze towards the sky, you'll know And rage against our prison, our astral dome We will our lightning. We must go. For in our heart, adventures are home.

The start of Drone adventures

I have always had the dream of flight. I wished to change my perspective in ways that I usually cannot. UAVs and drones have been a boon. They give me the freedom to take off and shift my vision in a matter of minutes. Looking at the world from 5'11", 20', 50', 100' or 300' is mind-bending. suddenly you tend to appreciate objects in ways you normally do not.  All of this is an intro or a justification of me purchasing a DJI Mavic Air 2, a small compact flyer that truly showcases the outstanding design and engineering of fellow Chinese master-mechanics. It contains technology that I would consider as sci-fi back in 2011 when I was first introduced to quadcopters. My HPE salary is well spent. $988. Insanity always has a price. Now I am gonna stop. Just enjoy some of these shots:
